Cristina Tostado, affectionately known as "Tina from the Town," is running for Oakland city council at large on November 5th, 2024. She was born and raised in East Oakland (62nd, E14th). She is first generation Mexican-American. Currently lives in Oakland, District 3.
Cristina has a deep-rooted passion for her community and a strong commitment to public service. Cristina is actively involved in several organizations in her hometown. Appointed an Oakland Library Commissioner. She is a mentor for Life Goes On, an initiative aimed to end senseless gun violence. She is a Reading Partners Young Professionals Board Member and on the Oakland Education Fund Advisory Board. Cristina is committed to improving literacy among children.Cristina was a former board member of the Oakland Latino Chamber of Commerce and former Volunteer Liaison for Mayor Libby Schaaf.
Her vision for Oakland includes cleaner streets, safer neighborhoods and well maintained playgrounds and parks. Cristina emphasizes the importance of mental health support and plans to collaborate with Alameda County to ensure funding, resources and services are available to Oakland residents.
When elected, Cristina will make history as the first Latina woman to serve as a council member at large in Oakland. She encourages the community to help each other, work together so we can all thrive and to "spread love it's the OAKLAND way."
